When Nic and Evan, the owners of The Rowing Pavilion and General Public, imagined the ultimate riverside dining experience, they knew the outdoor deck had to shine. With breathtaking views of the Swan River, this 154m² space was a major draw for patrons. But unpredictable weather – from harsh sunlight to strong winds – often made the deck underutilised.
The vision? To create a versatile, year-round space where guests could enjoy uninterrupted comfort while preserving the breathtaking connection to the river. Cover Co. worked closely with Nic and Evan to expand their space.
Maximising seasonal use
The Rowing Pavilion’s deck required a solution that adapts to the ever-changing riverside weather. To comfortably enjoy the space guests would need to be protected from unpredictable weather and winds, all while keeping the stunning views of the Swan River front and centre. On top of that, the venue was operating during the upgrade, and the unique location required special approval from the Swan River Parks and Wildlife Department.
With extensive experience managing complex installations, Cover Co. handled the entire process, allowing Nic and Evan to focus on running their venue.
An outdoor space transformed
To meet these challenges, Cover Co. implemented a customised shading system that offered both flexibility and aesthetic appeal:
- Three Oztech Retractable Roofs: These sleek, side-by-side systems offer the option for a fully open or fully enclosed deck. This functionality allows the venue to embrace sunny days and shelter guests during rain or intense heat.
- Eleven Ziptrak Café Blinds: Add wind protection without obstructing the iconic views. These blinds maintain the airy, riverside atmosphere that defines the venue while shielding patrons from the elements.
With careful planning and coordination, the Cover Co. team ensured the installation caused minimal disruption to daily operations.
