For these Wembley Downs homeowners, the outdoor area was being built as part of a much bigger renovation, complete with a new pool and entertaining zone. They wanted a louvre roof that would do more than provide cover. It needed to sit comfortably within the design of the home and help bring the whole space together. A standard freestanding structure was never going to feel right.
A custom structure, not a standard answer
From the beginning, this project called for something more specialised. Rather than working with a typical four-post setup, Cover Co designed and engineered a structure using two large Y-shaped columns and substantial concrete footings. That gave the space a more open feel and a stronger visual presence while still delivering the structural performance the installation required.
Our team manages this whole process from the first consultation through to the final handover. We evaluate the structural needs of the site, handle the engineering, and secure council approvals. By coordinating the concrete footings and electrical work, we make sure the project moves smoothly from an idea to a finished space.
Built to suit the home
At the centre of the project is an automated Lumex louvre roof system, powder coated in Woodland Grey to work with the home’s exterior palette. The roof was installed on a 5-degree pitch to achieve the right visual alignment, and integrated LED downlights were built into the perimeter frame to make the space just as inviting in the evening as it is during the day.
Nothing about the finished result feels standard. Every installation is adapted to suit the conditions of the block and the way the homeowners want to use the space.
A space people want to be in
With the addition of timber decking and cabinetry, the poolside area now feels complete.
It offers shelter when needed and a level of comfort that makes it easy to spend time there. The automated louvre system allows the homeowners to adjust light and airflow throughout the day, while the integrated lighting extends the space well into the evening.
What was once just part of the renovation is now one of the most enjoyable areas of the home. It is a stylish, functional outdoor space for gathering and unwinding in a comfortable environment. The durable finishes and automated parts stay in top condition with just a quick wash with water, so the space stays looking fresh for years.
